On the UN Comtrade website, Visualization Labs showcases innovative and experimental uses of trade data. Users can explore visualizations of trade data and metadata, cutting-edge data extraction tools, and alternative dissemination platforms.

Differences between UN Comtrade data and data from the Labs #

It’s important to understand that the visualizations displayed in the Lab are not generated or maintained by the UN Comtrade team. External users create and submit them to showcase what can be achieved with UN Comtrade data and/or data derived from UN Comtrade (e.g., by integrating/mashing with other datasets or imputing missing data). As a result, there may be variations or differences in the data presented in the Visualization Lab compared to the official data available in our database. While we strive for accuracy and consistency in our official data, the visualizations in the Lab may reflect individual interpretations, methodologies, integration with other data sources, or data processing techniques used by the creators. Further, UN Comtrade data is continuously updated to reflect the latest revisions; therefore, the extraction timing (of data used in the Labs) may also yield some discrepancies.
